There is no impediment to building a CRUDE atomic bomb other than obtaining enough enriched uranium. Building one with a reasonable yield, or one that is reasonably deliverable (e.g. on a missile) is another matter. THAT requires engineering. But if your interest lies in terrorizing such concerns as putting it on a missile are unimportant, and a crude weapon will **** up your day plenty badly. This is why I am and have been so amped about Iran and enrichment. Too many people have missed the point entirely. The whole point is that the Chinese national selling nuke technology to Iran was doing it the exact same way that US large banks use to bury bad assets. I do not find the banks to be at fault here, but it illustrates the potential damage when Broke Bank's "asset allocation" techniques are used by other industries. When NUKES and IRAN are involved, then it becomes sexy to report. When the detonation of the financial system is at hand, it is thought of as a Wall Street's problem.

NYC is probably full of radiaion detectors. Wouldn't be surprised if they fly over it occasionally looking for changes in radiation being emitted. They could very well set it off in another city. Iran became more intelligent about hiding their enrichment in the mountains and seperated to increase the survival. The question is if they use it on Israel first or the US once they develop it.
